The pedal bike is arguably the most efficient human-powered land vehicle ever invented. You can take it anywhere and on it, you can get around fast enough to give you a sense of movement and change. In bicycle-friendly Europe, you travel along paved cycle paths, along back roads through the countryside or even through meadows and fields themselves. Wherever you go cycle touring, the options are wide open – you can take anything from an easy, mostly flat route that won’t challenge you too much to a taxing ride that lasts all day and charges up and down hills at wild angles.
