DAY 1 XIAMEN: ARRIVAL
Arrival in Xiamen, formerly known as Amoy. This city, which used to be a pirate hideout during the 15th and 16th centuries, is well known for its attractive seascape. (D)
DAY 2 XIAMEN TO YONGDING
Travel to Yongding with its "earth buildings". We also visit the famous fortresses of Fuxin Lou and Huanji Lou. (B, L, D)
DAY 3 YONGDING
Visit the houses and fortress-villages of Kuiju Lou, Yulong Lou, Yanxiang Lou and the archetype of Zhengcheng residence in Hongken. (B, L, D)
DAY 4 YONGDING TO QUANZHOU
We drive on to Quanzhou with stops at Yijing Lou and the Celestial Empress in Xipo. (B, L, D)
DAY 5 QUANZHOU
We spend the day in Quanzhou, which lies on the banks of the Jin River. Qanzhou keeps a quiet and prosperous air about it despite its distinguished history.
We visit Kaiyuan Temple, formerly known as the Lotus Flower Temple. This is one of the most famous temples in Fujiang and holds some fine examples of Buddhist architecture and statuary dating back to the Song dynasty. We move on to Qingjing Mosque before visiting the Marine Museum. You have some free time to walk around the old town before dinner.(B, L, D)
DAY 6 QUANZHOU TO XIAMEN
On the way back to Xiamen, we stop and visit the village of the Cai Family, featuring remarkable architecture.
Travel to visit Gulangyu Island. A five-minute boat trip takes you here. No buses, cars or other vehicles are allowed on the island, so be prepared to put your walking boots on! (B, L, D)
DAY 7 XIAMEN: DEPARTURE
Morning at leisure before transfer to the airport for flight to your next destination. (B)
