Middle East
The best time to travel to the Middle East is in Spring and Autumn (March –May & September-November). This is the time Middle East weather is not as stifling. April is probably the best month, when temperatures are warm and wildflowers are in bloom. March can be cold and rainy in the north but is balmy by the Gulf of Agaba and the Dead Sea.
June–September are to be avoided, especially the July–August period which is very hot (high 40s) and humid (100 per cent). However hotels and golf clubs and other facilities offer very good deals during the summer months and it is worth remembering that hotels, shops, in fact all buildings, cars, buses etc are air-conditioned.
The two main Islamic religious festivals are Kurban Bayrami and Ramadan. The first is the most important and there are generally related public holidays in November, while Ramadan this year (2009) is from the 21st of August to the 19th of September.
