We Love
  • This 8-day tour can be customised for any travellers; adventure enthusiasts or romantics
  • The Emeraude is as transporting as time travel. And the vessel's history is as captivating as a fine old yarn. We were inspired by the painstaking recreation of an old vessel with love and passion beyond belief
  • The Victoria Resort is the only luxury hotel in the Sapa region. It was built as a traditional chalet with accented wooden décor and blends perfectly with its natural surroundings. We love it

Review

Begin your private tour in Hanoi, the Paris of the Orient, with city tour followed by a cyclo tour of the fascinating Old Quarter. Continue to Halong Bay where you will board the luxurious Chinese style junk, the Emeraude. Named for a cruising vessel that plied these waters between 1906 and 1937, the Emeraude aspires to the magnificence of the bay itself. Its air-conditioned cabins, en suite bathrooms, award-winning cuisine and spacious deck space set the stage for the voyage of a lifetime. Next day after dinner board the train to Sapa.

Sapa has beautiful countryside and your private guide will take you to explore the Muong Hoa valley, one of the most beautiful valleys in northwest Vietnam. Descending into the valley by foot you will see the largest terraced rice paddy fields in the area. Visit the villages to see the different traditions and costumes of the minority people who live there and visit orchid gardens on Ham Rong Mount overlooking the town.

On returning to Hanoi, spend the day biking and/or hiking through rural villages outside the city. Take a short tour of the city or request your guide for best places to shop. This 8-day tour covers the best of North Vietnam designed for couples and families or travellers with less time. This tour combines nicely with touring elsewhere in Southeast Asia e.g. Cambodia, Vietnam & Thailand.

Max your Awim Home hosted dinner at a Hanoi family: The tour starts at 6 pm where you are transferred to your host family. After a warm welcome, you will be shown around the house, see the family’s ancestor altar and the history of the family and the house will be explained. Afterwards, have dinner with the family.

Your host will introduce you to tonight’s dishes and cuisine. The menu includes traditional Vietnamese dishes such as stir-fried water morning glory, roasted sesame and peanuts, spring rolls, and some other stir-fried dishes. After dinner, relax, chat with your hosts and enjoy traditional tea and sweets. The family will explain Vietnamese Tea Culture and share personal memories with you. Don’t’ be afraid to ask questions! Before your farewell, have a picture taken with your host.

Getting There

There are few direct flights from Europe to Vietnam’s three main international airports – Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang, but these are steadily increasing over the years. The majority of visitors take indirect flights routed through Bangkok, Singapore or Hong Kong. It can be cheaper if you fly to Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur or Singapore or regular international carriers and from there take one of the low cost carriers to Vietnam.  Vietnam Airlines and Jetstar are the two main domestic carriers. Fares are very reasonable and the frequencies of flights to main hubs are good.

If you are travelling with AwimAway, transfers from an airport are arranged by our representatives who will meet you at the arrival lounge and transfer you to the hotel.
