Indian Tiger Safari

The Royal Bengal Tiger once roamed freely in central India but its domain is now constricted to two adjoining national parks; namely Bandhavgarh and Kanha. Both of these national parks still retain unspoilt natural habitat for a variety of wildlife. These include gaur (Indian bison), sloth bear, leopard, porcupine, wild boar, sambhar and spotted deer, among others and of course, the Tiger. With the highest density of tiger population, Bandhavgarh and Kanha are one of the best national parks to see the tiger in its natural surroundings.

Need to Know
  • Your international airfare is not included. We can book your international and domestic flights.
  • Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays
  • The Indian safari experience is very different from one in Africa, therefore one must adjust your expectations or else it can be disappointing
  • Park management in India is still being tweaked. Facilities in the park are limited, only a few park officials have radios so communication is not as efficient
  • We strongly recommend that you take travel insurance for this holiday

This Tiger Safari tour takes you to the tiger country in Madhya Pradesh that harbours nine tiger reserves in the country, when Project Tiger was launched way back in the early seventies.

The forests of Bandhavgarh were the hunting reserve of the royal family of Rewa. It is where the white tigers of Rewa were discovered. There are good chances of seeing a tiger here. Other attractions include, Nilgai, Chausingha, Chital, Chinkara and Wild Boar. We will stay at the comfortable Kings lodge, located in the heart of wild country.

The Kanha National Park with rolling grasslands, meandering streams and bamboo forests provides a perfect habitat for the wildlife and inspiration to photographers, naturalists and writers like Rudyard Kipling, who fascinated by the scenery wrote his famous novel the "Jungle Book”.

The animals at Kanha are best observed from elephant back & jeeps. Deer are seen along the maidens and gaur in the Mukki range. We will stay in the rustic yet deluxe resort built mainly with local material. There is a variety of deer, the barasingha, spotted deer, nilgai, Indian bison and wild pig, a perfect 'tiger country'.

Max your Awim If you are first-timer, take an extension tour at the beginning of the tour to Agra and see the fascinating Taj Mahal. Alternatively or in addition, take a break at the end of the tour to laze in one of the luxury hotels on a beach in Goa. The cuisine is mostly seafood-based; the staple foods are rice and fish and influenced by the Portuguese. The area is located in a tropical climate, which means that spices and flavours are intense.

Getting There

All major international airlines fly to India’s main airports: Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. Airports tend to be on the outskirts of cities. Pre-paid taxi services and auto-rickshaws are stationed outside the terminus to get you into the city.

If you are travelling with AwimAway, transfers from an airport in India are arranged by our representatives who will meet you at the arrival lounge and transfer you to the hotel.
