Chitabe Lediba Camp is located in the Chitabe Concession, in the Okavango Delta wilderness. The Camp has a glorious vantage over the small lediba (remnant lagoon that has become a waterhole) after which the camp is named. It consists of five canvas tented-style rooms, built on raised decks with luxurious interiors, complete with en-suite bathrooms, indoor and outdoor shower. A dining area, lounge and pool have glorious views over the surrounding floodplains. 

The vegetation around Chitabe Lediba area is a combination of open grassland, acacia-forest and shallow waterways. Game viewing is varied from the lush green period after the rains to the dry winter months when plains game numbers peak. Buffalo, elephant, lion, kudu, hippo, giraffe, leopard, cheetah are found throughout the year. Wild dogs are frequently seen in the concession. The birdlife is excellent and varies throughout the year, depending on water levels and season. 

Daily routine at Chitabe Lediba includes both morning and afternoon game drives to explore the breathtaking variety of landscapes. Afternoon drives usually return after dark in the hope of spotting the shyer nocturnal animals: such as genet, civet, serval, porcupine and, on the rare occasion, the aardwolf. There are two elevated game viewing platforms which can be utilised during the day.

Chitabe Lediba OKAVANGO DELTA, BOTSWANA


Stay Chitabe Lediba is a classic safari camp that can accommodate 8 to 14 guests. It has four canvas tented-style rooms, built on raised decks with luxurious interiors, complete with en-suite bathrooms, including double vanity basins, indoor and outdoor shower with spectacular views. There are two family rooms, one (for older children) with an adjoining front deck and the other (for youngsters) with an adjoining corridor; each room however has its own en-suite facilities.


The Camp The main area of Chitabe Lediba includes a dining area, lounge and pool with glorious views over the surrounding floodplains and the small lagoon waterhole. Raised wooden platform with walkways link thatched communal area with rooms. An open air boma is used for dinner around campfire. A digital projector is available on request. There is a small curio shop and library. Wildlife viewing is the major activity at this camp, whether on walks or game drives.


ChildCare Children of 6 years and older are welcome to stay at the Chitabe Lediba. For families travelling with children between 6 and 12 years, private activities need to be booked and paid for. Children between 6 and 16 years must share with an adult/s in the same room. The minimum age for walking activities is 13 years (subject to availability).


Safari Daily routine at the Chitabe Lediba includes land game drives in open 4x4 Land Rovers – the camp has 2x 10-seater Land Rovers, each accommodating a maximum of 7 guests so that each guest is afforded an outside seat. The camp has a supply of bean bags for guests to use to steady their camera while on a game activity. Walking safaris are offered from camp on request.

Location The Chitabe Lediba Camp is located in a private concession in the south-eastern Okavango Delta  Moremi Game Reserve borders the north and east.
 

Getting There Maun is the gateway to the Okavango Delta and is accessed by a short 20 min flight on a light aircraft. The flight from Kasane takes one hour and 25 mins. There is a luggage restriction on this flight of 10kg (22lbs) per person, soft sided luggage. The flight from Kasane to Victoria Falls takes 20 minutes, but allow additional time for customs and immigration.
 

When to go Botswana’s winter is during our British summer, and the weather is hot during the day, but it isn't a stifling heat, and cold at night. The summer months (British winter) can be hot and humid and there is a chance of rain. Botswana has one rainy season which runs between mid-December and runs through to mid-March.
