Kings Pool Camp

LINYANTI, BOTSWANA

Kings Pool Camp is located in the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve, a vast private concession in the northern Botswana and on the western boundary of Chobe National Park. The Camp overlooks the Linyanti River and the oxbow-shaped Kings Pool Lagoon. Each of its well-appointed canvas tents have a large bedroom area, lounge, private plunge pool and 'sala'. The spacious en-suite bathrooms are tiled with double showers as well as an outdoor shower.

The Linyanti Wildlife Reserve has abundant wildlife in a wide variety of species, but is most noted for its large elephant population which can reach enormous densities during the dry winter months. Other game around the Kings Pool Camp includes impala, lechwe, kudu, zebra, giraffe, buffalo and bushbuck, and their predators; lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog and spotted hyaena. Rare species such as sable and roan antelope are also seen during the dry season.

Activities in Kings Pool Camp include day and night game drives, walks (on request), and boat cruises along the Linyanti River on Kings Pool’s colonial-style barge, the Queen Sylvia. Two hides allow guests to watch game as they come down to drink. One is at the edge of the camp, while the other underground, with the water at eye-level – Seeing massive elephant feet almost within touching distance while safely inside is an extraordinary experience.

Botswana has one rainy season which runs between December and February, sometimes continuing into March, with rain generally in the form of afternoon thundershowers. Best time to travel is all year round. There is great fishing from March to December, with catches of tiger fish, bream, catfish and tilapia.
