Indian cuisine encompasses a wide variety of regional and traditional cuisines native to India. Given the range of diversity in climate, culture, ethnic groups, Indian dishes vary according to region. North Indian cuisine uses a lot of yogurt, cream and is non-veg, while South Indian food is vegetarian, and uses lots of coconut. According to Indian food serving customs, a proper meal should be a perfect balance of all 6 different flavours; sweet, salt, bitter, sour, astringent and spicy.
Cuisine in Delhi is heavily influenced by the dishes prepared in the royal kitchens of the Moghul rulers. Food here can be related to North Indian cuisine, which is taken with breads like naan and chapatti. Rajasthani cuisine is more regional, where each region is known for its speciality. Originating from the Marwar region (near Udaipur) is the concept of vegetarian restaurants, today found in many part of India. Mumbai is best known for the best street food in the country.

Day 1 – Arrive
Delhi Meet and greet on arrival at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. After a warm welcome you will be escorted by our representative to your hotel for 2 nights stay. The rest of your day will be scheduled depending on your arrival time and how tired you feel.
Afternoon enjoy a cooking demonstration and visit the Spice Market in Old Delhi, reputed to be the biggest in Asia. It is a thriving wholesale market where merchants come from across the country to buy their spices. The colours, textures, and aromas literally spill out into the street and is worth a trip.

Day 2 – Tour
Delhi The capital city of India is a bustling metropolis that successfully combines the ancient with the modern; Old Delhi, once the seat of the Moghul Emperors and New Delhi, established by the British in the early 20th century.
Your private tour begins with a visit to Old Delhi that still reminisces the past and retains its ancient architecture. Places of note in Old Delhi include the 17th century Red Fort that served as the capital of the Moghuls, and its Chandni Chowk market, which is still the busiest in Old Delhi. Also visit Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in Delhi and the final resting place of Mughal Emperor Humayun.
In the afternoon discover New Delhi, which has the imprint of the British architect Edwin Lutyens. Most notable are his India Gate (World War I memorial), the Parliament and the President’s House. The present-day New Delhi, however, has an urban landscape with modern shopping arcades, high-rise buildings with rooftop bars and some of the best Indian and international cuisine restaurants. Wherever you go, you will experience a mix of architectures, cultures and religions.

Day 3 – Transfer & Tour
Jaipur Drive to Jaipur, Rajasthan’s great “Pink City,” one of the most well planned cities of India. Spend the day shopping. Jaipur is famous for its precious and semi-precious stoned jewels, enamelled ornaments, beautiful carpets and other artefacts and crafts.

Day 4 – Tour
Jaipur See the rich architectural legacy of Jaipur’s merchants and maharajas (Hindu princes)—hill forts, palaces, temples and havelis (courtyard mansions)—surrounded by stark desert. Ride an elephant to Amber Fort. Marvel at the luminous saris of indigenous tribal women and the bright turbans of Rajasthani men. Explore medieval backstreets and browse bazaars selling textiles, leatherwork, woodblock prints, perfume, jewellery and Jaipur’s traditional blue pottery.
In the evening, learn about the local lifestyle and culture and taste Rajasthan cuisine typical to this region at an Indian home. Step inside their kitchen and learn the age old art of local culinary delights. Your hosts will be happy to share their secret recipes and give you some handy tips about Indian cooking.

Day 5 – Transfer & Tour
Deogarh Transfer to Deogarh, located deep in the rugged and beautiful countryside of Rajasthan. It is an excellent destination to experience true rural life, stunning scenery and taste authentic local cuisine. This evening, enjoy a cooking demonstration class followed by a traditional dinner at the hotel.

Day 6 – Tour
Udaipur Today we drive to the romantic city of Udaipur, the capital of Mewar. A romantic and serene city, Udaipur nestles in the scenic valley of Aravali hills, surrounded by three lakes. We will visit the intricately carved Jain Temple at Ranakpur en route and enjoy lunch in the pleasant surroundings of Maharani Bagh orchards.

Day 7 – Transfer & Tour
Udaipur Udaipur, India's most romantic city, among the grand arches and courtyard gardens of the beautiful Oberoi Udaivilas. Cruise Lake Pichola and walk through picturesque backstreets, shop for local folk art, tour the City Palace, Jagdish Temple, the Saheliyon Ki Bari Garden, and browse the local bazaars. Evening take part in a cooking demonstration class followed by a dinner at Spice Box.
Option 1: Eklingji Temple. Early afternoon, visit the most famous temples of Rajasthan. Located in the town of Eklingji (Kailashpuri), the place got its popular name from the temple. Eklingji Temple is positioned at a distance of 22 km in the north of Udaipur.
Option 2: Boat cruise at Lake Pichola. Enjoy an evening boat cruise at the serene Lake Pichola (subject to water level)

Mumbai This morning you will be transferred to the airport to board your morning flight to Mumbai.

Day 9 – Tour
Mumbai The tour concludes with two nights in exciting Mumbai (Bombay), India’s economic capital and the home of the Bollywood film industry. Tour the city’s cultural attractions, bazaars and most interesting neighborhoods, enjoy a private market visit and cooking class, and take a private boat ride to the Elephanta Island Caves—inside are extensive Hindu stone sculptures linked to the cult of Shiva.
Attend a private cooking class at a local home that starts with a visit to the vegetable market to buy the ingredients and later cook in the Gujarati style.

Getting There All major international airlines fly to India’s main airports: Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. Airports tend to be on the outskirts of cities. Pre-paid taxi services and auto-rickshaws are stationed outside the terminus to get you into the city.
When to go The best time to travel to India is between September and March. Summer starts in April and by June, it becomes very hot. By July there is the south-west monsoon, which brings heavy rains to the west coast. September is a generally a clear month though later, between October and December there may be a reverse pattern called the north-east monsoon that appears in the Bay of Bengal, bringing rains to the east coast. The best time for trekking in the Indian Himalaya is between April and November but it varies from region to region and the altitude you are planning to reach.
