Kenya Masai Mara & Beach

Maasai Mara (Masai Mara) is situated in south-west Kenya and is one of Africa’s Greatest Wildlife Reserves. The Great wildebeest migration, from the Serengeti National Park to the greener pastures of the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya occurs between July and October. It is at the crossing of the Mara River in the Maasai Mara where crocodiles will prey on them. This is one of the highlights as the animals try and cross the Mara River alive.

Due to the amount of wildlife to be seen in the reserve we feel a 3- to 4-day safari is suitable for just the Maasai Mara. If you are interested in photography the longer you stay the more chance of getting the ultimate photo. This short introductory tour is ideal for those who want a quintessential Kenyan safari experience, followed by some time at one of East Africa’s most beautiful beaches.

When to go Game viewing is at its best in mid-summer after the rainy season has ended. The days will be long and the weather pleasant. The best month is probably July.

The main rainy seasons are from April to May (the long rains) and October to December (the short rains). Rainfall is seldom continuous over long periods and normally falls in the late afternoon preceded by bright sunny and fresh days. The Rift Valley and Central Highlands enjoy a temperate climate year round although the temperatures vary from the hot and relatively dry floor of the Rift valley to arctic on the peaks of Mt Kenya.
