Best of Vietnam & Cambodia
Vietnam and Cambodia are Southeast Asian countries with a common border in Southwest Vietnam. North Vietnam, cruise through dramatic karst scenery on a boat tour of Halong Bay. Hue, seat of Nguyen Dynasty emperors, visit the 19th-century Citadel, that encompasses the Imperial City, with palaces and shrines. Hoi An, discover well-preserved Ancient Town, cut through with canals. Ho Chi Minh City (also known as Saigon) in southern Vietnam, appreciate French colonial architecture and explore Cu Chi tunnels.
Cambodia is known for the legendary Angkor Wat and its ancient Angkor temples of Khmer kingdom. Once the seat of the Khmer Empire, the 12th-century temple complex Angkor, houses the magnificent Angkor Wat, the main temple, as its focal point. Giant, serene and smiling faces are carved into the Bayon Temple at Angkor Thom. Owing to its closeness to Angkor Temple complex, Siem Reap has a range of luxury hotels, resorts, art galleries and spas.
TRAVEL UNTAMED ON THIS 14-DAY TOUR OF VIETNAM & CAMBODIA…
And, visit its highlights plus a side excursion to Angkor Wat.
This comprehensive tour of Vietnam and Cambodia features ancient ruins and impressive landscapes, bustling cities and historic towns, a luxury cruise on Halong Bay and a side excursion to Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Accommodation is at the most luxurious hotels and resorts in each location and all touring is with your own private guide and driver.
Begin in dynamic Saigon (Ho Chi Minh), the country’s bustling commercial centre. With your own expert guide and driver, experience the city's most interesting neighbourhoods, historic attractions, museums, art galleries and shops, markets, and excellent restaurants. One day, take an excursion into the countryside to tour the Cu Chi Tunnels and observe a colourful religious ceremony at the Cao Dai Temple.
Transfer to Hue, the former Imperial Capital in central Vietnam. Tour the Imperial Citadel, a large complex that includes the Forbidden Purple City, where the emperor and his family once lived. See the beautiful gardens and traditional architecture at the royal tombs along the Perfume River. Also visit colourful Dong Ba Market and, if desired, sample Hue's famed vegetarian and royal cuisine.
Continue to Hoi An, a World Heritage town that retains a distinct Chinese atmosphere with colourful historic homes, charming cafes, and bustling silk and fish markets. With your private guide tour the surrounding villages and enjoy the stunning countryside scenes that will simply mesmerise you. In the evening enjoy a sunset cruise on the river.
Next spend three nights in Hanoi, Vietnam’s artistic and intellectual capital. With your guide, ride cyclos around the lake to see the city's historic French colonial architecture. Visit ancient temples, the Museum of Ethnology and the fascinating Old Quarter with its hundreds of specialty shops selling silk clothing, lacquerware, embroidered linens and more.
Take a private transfer to Halong Bay and check-in the luxurious, but traditional junk-style boat for an overnight cruise. Few places anywhere rival the extreme natural beauty and serenity of Vietnam's Halong Bay. Sail among beautiful limestone islands, dine on fresh seafood, enjoy on-board activities such as tai chi at sunrise, and perhaps explore local caves, hike to a scenic overlook, go sea kayaking or visit a floating village.
Travel to Siem Reap for a three-night exploration of Angkor—the ruins of the ancient Khmer empire. Visit Angkor Wat, an enormous temple city built as a model of the Hindu universe in stone. Nearby is Angkor Thom, a former capital believed to have once housed a population of approximately one million people around its Bayon, Terrace of the Elephants and Terrace of the Leper King.
