Cuba Adventure

Baracoa, Cuba’s first city, lies in Guantánamo Province, near the southeastern tip of the country. Its colonial village with cobblestone streets, secluded beaches and virgin rainforest is dominated by a table-topped hill, ‘El Yunque’. East of Baracoa city, is a park dedicated to Christopher Columbus, with his statue, hand-hewed out of a giant tree stump. Downtown, in the Cathedral Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, is a silver-plated cross, he is said to have planted.

Earlier in the tour, visit old Havana and view its architectural heritage and many plazas. Drive along the Malecón waterfront and visit Finca Vigia, east of town, Cuba home of the writer Earnest Hemingway. Visit Las Terrazas and Viñales Valley, known for its flora, the fauna (birds) and activities including walking tours. In central Cuba, visit Trinidad and Camaguey, once the heart of sugar cane industry. Then travel to the southern tip to Santiago de Cuba and Baracoa.

And, experience Vinales Valley, historical city of Trinidad & Santiago de Cuba.

What better way to explore the beautiful and exotic surrounds of Cuba than by foot. Explore the historic Old Havana district and enjoy some traditional Spanish or Caribbean cuisine whist soaking up the musical masterpieces of the local musicians.
Take an excursion to Vinales Valley, surrounded by Karst formations rising 400m high. Adventure enthusiasts can explore its numerous caves, inside which are dripstone and rock art. Although much smaller in size in comparison to China's Yangshuo, Guilin, but driving into this valley by road is a spectacular sight.
Enjoy the historical Spanish city of Trinidad on the Central South Coast, with its cobbled streets, terracotta rooftops and pastel coloured houses. Trek some of the fabulous trails in the Escambray mountain range. Explore the flora and fauna of this delightful Caribbean archipelago, whilst being serenaded along the way by a vibrant and lively culture.
Finish your tour in Santiago de Cuba, the sizzling hot former capital of Cuba, known for its colonial architecture and revolutionary history and the birthplace of Light Rum. For rum lovers and visitors eager to unravel a major part of Cuba’s cultural roots, it is easy to miss out on sites of historical interest, and try an exceptional blend, named like the ‘Santiago de Cuba 500 Rum’ launched in celebration of its 500 years of existence in 2015. It’s worth trying!
Getting There

Virgin Atlantic is the only airline operating direct scheduled flights to Cuba, with two services a week from Gatwick.

Various airlines fly to Havana from London via European cities, including Madrid, Paris, Amsterdam and Rome. Air France is the most versatile option, with daily flights from London Heathrow to Havana via Paris. Iberia and KLM also fly from Heathrow, via Madrid and Amsterdam respectively. Other airlines flying direct from European cities include Cubana, KLM, Air Berlin and Air Europa. Though Cubana tends to offer the least expensive flights on the market, they have a justified reputation for overbooking, overzealous enforcement of the baggage weight limit.

When to go Cuba is an all year round destination and there isn't a bad time to visit Cuba. It has primarily a tropical climate where temperature rarely falls below 27 degrees C (81 F) and reaches a maximum 32 C (90 F) and although hot all year round, there is a very pleasant breeze.

There are only two seasons: the hot and rainy season runs from May to November (May-June are the wettest months) and the dry season (winter) runs from December to April. It is the time when Europeans go there in pursuit of the southern sun. Avoid the peak hurricanes season (September-October) and the busy periods (July and August) when the Cubans take their holidays.

Visas Make sure you get the right visa for your visit. As well as tourist visas, there are other visa categories for different types of travellers. If you’re entering Cuba as a tourist, you’ll need to get a tourist card before you travel.

Passport validity: Your passport should be valid for the proposed duration of your stay. No additional period of validity beyond this is required.
